Upon successful completion of your FREC 3 conversion course, your new qualification will be valid for 3 years. In order to renew your FREC 3 qualification, you will need to complete another 3-day requalification course as opposed to a full 5-day course.

Our First Response Emergency Care (FREC Level 3) course is designed for anyone acting as a first responder to a range of emergency settings. This clinically endorsed qualification is widely recognised across many industries including, NHS Ambulance trusts, Police Forces and the Offshore/Maritime Sector.

Course Overview

The QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF/RQF) requalification is specifically designed for those who have completed a FREC 3 course, and wish to requalify, or learners who have gained a Level 2 First Person On Scene (Intermediate) course, have a valid certificate and would like to gain a FREC 3 qualification.

The QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) is one of the few first aid qualifications recognised by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Successful Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to deal with a wide range of prehospital care emergencies, such as: managing a patient’s airways, catastrophic bleeding, management of fractures, medical emergencies and more.

Course Information

The content for this course is comprehensive and covers the following:

  • Basic Life Support (including AED)
  • Primary & Secondary Survey
  • Choking
  • Management of unconscious casualty
  • Common medical emergencies
  • Structure and function of the body
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Airway management
  • Extremes of temperature
  • Control of bleeding
  • Shock
  • Spinal immobilisation

You must have a valid and in-date FPOS-I or FREC 3 certificate.

FREC 3 Courses are run regularly at our Academy in the Wirral. We can also deliver this course at your premises anywhere in the UK for groups of 3 or more students.

The Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC) covers all learning outcomes and assessment criteria contained within the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work qualification. Therefore FREC 3 exceeds the Health and Safety Executive’s standard requirements for those acting as a workplace first aider, in addition, FREC 3 also covers a number of additional training needs that are often identified in ‘higher risk’ working environments.
